Summer Road Trip, Day One: Truckin'
Today was all about the
journey, or at least the drive. We left
home about 8 this morning and arrived in Chino Valley about 10 tonight. That is a lot of sitting. However, McDonald’s provided a helpful
reminder:
I get to look at a lot
more of the scenery when I’m not driving.
I swear Dr. Seuss is responsible for Joshua trees.
Also fascinating: I saw tons and tons of “washes” once we left
I-5. They all have names: Roadrunner Wash (Beep beep!), Black Rock Wash
(is it white afterwards?), Big Chino Wash (Hope it doesn’t shrink…), and my
favorite of all, Old Dad Wash (wherein he acquires New Dad smell?). Oh, and I am glad I do not live in Shinarump.
We stopped in Needles,
but I did not see Spike. He must be off
on a visit to Snoopy.
Here are some gratuitous
mountains and some truck stop dragons.
