Fair Share

 

It is not about fractions, factions

of pie, staining some number

of plates.

It is not about whose turn

it is to lug the clinking,

stinking trash out, to sweep

up the crumbs under the table.

 

Fair is the oxygen

belling out the lungs every breath,

the sun pinking the horizons

twice a day, day in, day out.

It is the inexplicable

grace of being.
