Hearts cheat.

That’s just what they do.

No, not like that, or not

only like that.

Hearts laugh at lines

and boundaries and rules,

cross and nudge,

breeze right past

the Do Not Enter,

the Caution Wet Floor,

the Danger Rip Tide.

So it is no surprise

to find hearts

drowned and broken.

They keep loving anyway.
